Monroe Pageant 2012
At what was the first staging of the event, five Judges and over 200 patrons saw the young ladies perform an opening dance and compete in introductions, talent and an interview section. To sweeten the plot, the contestants were charged with creating their own unique Monroe attire for Introductions.
The pageant –themed Women of Excellence- was well organized and saw a smooth flow of activities inclusive of a slew of performances from Monroe’s very own rising stars and the debut performance of the school’s dance team-Stampede.
Prior to the event, the ladies participated in community service activities such as the Live United Walk and mingled with the patrons at the school’s Homecoming Carnival.
We take great pleasure in noting that the pageant was planned and executed by some of Monroe’s very own students. The committee formed and lead by Alex-Ann Green, included Mara Simon, Latoya Jones, Tamika Keane, Kimarah Isaac, Jasper Carty, Kimberlie Southwell, Kareem Meade, Rosenel Joseph and Shanella Rabess,
Prizes were sponsored by The Financial Aid Office, Bursars Office, The Honors Society, The School of Hospitality and Residence Life in New Rochelle.
The capable judges, Walter Eddie, Rabab Abdalla, Nancy Delgado- Ramos, Claricia Langely-Stevens and Edith Saint-Fleur had the difficult task of selecting a winner from the prudent group of ladies. At the end of the night the awards were as follows
- Most Congenial- Ms. Jasmine Horton
- Best Evening Gown- Ms. Shannell Barnes
- Best Smile- Ms. Morgan Pulliam
- People’s Choice Award- Ms. KaBria Leary
- Best Talent- Ms. Samirah Joseph
- Most Intelligent- Ms. Shauntelle Page

The organizers would like to express special thanks to Sutton Florists and Alborada Florists for their donations to the event.
The proceeds were donated to a non-profit organization- Women of Excellence Strength and Tenacity. Next Thursday, December 6, 2012 the show will be hosted for the second time. This time it incorporates the male population. You don’t want to miss it! See you at 8pm at 140 Huguenot Street.
